Pull the tip.i tried the Barnes varmint grenade 36gr in my CZ527 .22 hornet and they went through the target sideways.
So will not be using them.

Welcome to the best 40gr 22Hornet thread on the Interwebs!! You're a very lucky fella to have not one but two 527's - does the one prefer the 35gr Vmax and the other 40gr Blitz or are they interchangeable?Just stumbled on this thread.
I have a pair of CZ527’s in .22 Hornet, one running 35gr Vmax and my second I have a single shot tray for and load 40g Sierra Blitzking over Lil’Gun giving 3100ish fps with CCI 400’s and Remington brass.
The SBK is flat base unlike the Hornady 40gr VMAX so I have 3 box’s of the Hornady sat in my collection in opened with no use for them as I don’t think I will run them in my .222 and definitely not in my .22-250.
they have no tipsPull the tip.

I was fortunate to find 40gr Nosler Ballistic Tip Varmit (orange polymer) and 40gr Sierra Blitzking (green polymer) by visiting at least 8 different gun shops on my recent holiday road trip (my family understood that it was important and didn't complainand I believe, with the inclusion of the Vmax this completes the available polymer tip options available in South Africa.
The Vmax and Ballistic Tip are almost identical, both having boat tails whilst the Blitzking is almost 0.4mm shorter with the flat base. I'll post pictures with more details in the morning.
Lol, I'm so sorry, brain fart moment, I completely got the wrong bullet in my tiny head.they have no tips![]()
On my shelf, I have some Nosler Varmageddons in hollow point. I didn't realise what I'd bought until I opened them, but my word do they group well. They just have the edge over the tipped version out of my rifle. You still have to butcher a CZ mag to get them to fit though
you also need to modifier the follower to make it longer, or make a new one, as you say not butchery. The cz 527 in hornet magazine mod isn't really butchering it. The spacer, plastic, is just sanded a small amount which allows a slightly long COL. It still works perfectly alright with standard length ammunition .
We didn't do anything to the follower.you also need to modifier the follower to make it longer, or make a new one, as you say not butchery.
