The ring of death, a timely reminder!

Forgive my ignorance but what happens if it separates, other than failing to eject? Can you tell from the sound or the bullet behaviour?
It doesn’t just fail to eject - it will likely stick in the chamber and can be bloody difficult to remove. Seen it on two occasions - both times we couldn’t extract the front end so pals Range Days ended abruptly…

When it happened to me it did sound different but nothing noticeable came back.
In theory the rear should still seal the bore but sometimes older rounds like 303 separate near the case head. In theory there is a risk then!
 
I wonder if you would have the courage to do this….
