The Shanghai Dagger

A little side project that I am working on just now...

We all know that William Ewart Fairbairn as the Fairbairn in Fairbairn Sykes, he met Sykes in Shanghai when they both worked for the Shanghai Police, pre WWII, I have no doubt that Shanghai was a tasty place back then and these fellas were working in the red light areas.

Fairbairn back then developed a knife that he could conceal about his body, now known as the Shanghai Dagger, it is the forerunner to the FS Dagger.

Fairbairn is said to have had over 600 knife fights in his life, he was not a fella to be messed with.

There is loads about original Shanghai Daggers HERE!

And my little project, the handles are away being professionally chequered at the minute...

Cannot help wonder why the goodly mr fairburn-Sykes simply did not shoot anyone waving a knife around with his Webley as no one would be asking many question in down town Shanghai of the period though maybe not as challenging.🤔
Though maybe they were not issued them, nice workmanship with sheaths and rib tickler.
