Rifletuner and son arrived for a few days, they are currently in a creek system up the back waiting for an opp.
Sydney mate Stewy rolled a hind this morning in front of and for his 5-6 month old GSP pup....its her first ever deer hunt/deer and she loved it. Stewy had given up on finding the deer after it took off in heavy cover and the pup followed up th emarks to find the dead hind for him.(applause) We only broke her to the gun yesterday with a .22 then a .308 Winchester.
She is a little goer and is up the bush in another place with her master atm..I`m cooking the lamb roast.
Anythefuckoldhow RT presented me with a knife on arrival. I had given him a few blank scales and he used Buloke timber, its a native wood and is pretty friggen good eh wot! Love the Sambar stag touch.
For those that like to know.

Wood

The wood of buloke is commonly used for knife handles, flooring, fine furniture and turned objects and is reported as being the hardest wood in the world, with a Janka hardness of 16,740 N (3,760 lbf).[11]

When there is some blood on it yes.
We are all leaving shortly for the bush,no guarantees though.
Mates son had a deer head/neck in his Aimpoint sight last night close to dark but wasn't happy with the sight picture and declined the chance, as Stewy said" if he had a scope on it he would have taken the shot.

And the little bitch took him through heavy blackberry and reed grass swamp country after the shot tonight for her second only deer...applause. She is 5.5 months old.

Hi John

Interesting - back story on both?
Presume one kept for 'clean-cutting' tother for the wet-work?

Hi John

Probably too early of a morn for me to be clear.........

Details of the deer - when seen, getting on to it and then finding if bolted on?

Knife - I assumed to keep the knife with paracord? clean, it was only used to cut the legs/backstraps etc off, with a different knife, not paracord handled (as cleaning must be an issue if paracord not taken off) used for internal work - fillets, heart, liver, kidneys etc.....

Evening before they were given some pointers on what to do and saw the one deer. My next day suggestion was to go back to same spot but separate and each head up very old farm tracks from a creek junction, its heavily forested and blackberry heaven. After a K`s steady slow walk in breaking light Dad went left, son went right and son was eventually confronted with the sight of two hinds one of which stood long enough for the .458 to do its job. (off the shoulder too)...good boy, no thoughts of the big bang theory.

Yes they took off what you said including the ears and when they arrived back at the house and advised the location we went back and I ran a line out to the deer and dragged it up to a loading spot. Once home on the hoist I gutted it with Cameron's para knife and actually complemented him on "how ****ing sharp it is" even after the other parts removal. I wanted the guts for dog IE paunch, liver blah blah....then hosed knife and suggested that he may want to brush and dip it in an anti bacterial.

The paracord wrapped handles hold O interest for me. But like the cheap chinese knife in the other thread far better than no knife.

I have quoted my own report as basically testament to breaking/training pups from an early age instead of the bullschitt approach of "waiting till pup is 12 months old to begin.
As usual no one bothered to join in with a comment and it seems that 98% of members have a dog.

Hey John

I did comment - 'dirty-knife' for internal cavity work and and another for external work....
