Thermal front add ons

Just wondering if anyone uses the newer ones with good effect.

I’m talking about return to zero on the likes of the nocpix mate and the HIk thunder?

“within an inch or 2”

Is making my skin crawl

This may be an error at that price - others are showing £1500 plus!

The Protons are the older ones now - the Krypton is the newer model, it may be that the proton prices have dropped a fair bit!

Hopefully zeroing in a Thermtec Hunt Pro 650 next week and will feedback how things go. My stalking buddy uses the Swaro TM 35+ regularly and he always removes it when the light improves, no zero issues that I am aware of.

these add ons are they just using the glass scopes crosshair ?
or do you need to line up a cross hair on add on to the glass scope crosshair ?

I’m using the scope’s crosshairs with the red dot set to dim. I don’t use the reference line feature so all of the aiming is done off the normal scope after zeroing it in for each rifle using a different profile.

hi you use the crosshair from your glass scope which should be pretty much zeroed then you pop on the clip-on a shoot at the target
Say your 5” to the right and 2” down you then move the x/y movements on the clip-on tho zero it to your day scope
You then can add a ret to the clip-on for recording purposes only and need to centre that too
Ps the clip-on does make you look good as it records it at x2/3 but you could have taken the shot on x12 on your day scope
I have a couple of videos on YouTube one I tried to show how to zero it which was ok
But it did show that it very much so returns to zero when removed from the scope and then put back on

Good videos, found them useful. Nice clear image through the Hunt Pro 650 on the foxing videos.

I zeroed the ThermTec HuntPro 650 clip-on last week. The process is simple enough with X and Y adjustments and while the increments were not exactly in millimetres the distance for each click seems proportionate. The process took a little longer than it should have as it was snowing most of the time - not ideal for zeroing thermal devices!

The unit is lightweight and compact and I can't say that I noticed any difference in the way the rifle handled. It is fitted to my Leica Amplus 2.5-15 x 56. This scope is a little fussy regarding eye relief and this is also noticeable with the clip on attached. I used it stalking for the first time Saturday afternoon and spent a lot of time evaluating image quality. With its current settings the image is very similar to that through my ATN BlazeHunter 635 LRF - which is a good quality image. My stalking partner uses a Swaro TM35+ and he finds the image through that is inferior to his monocular.

Unfortunately no deer played ball but I am out again Thursday morning and let's see.

whats your youtube name/ link to your vids?

cheers

I thought adding a front add-on can change the zero? Is this not the case with the newer ones or at least certain models?

On the ThermTec HuntPro you can zero on the unit itself leaving your glass scope zeroed as normal. My understanding of the Swaro TM35+ is that you do not/cannot adjust zero on the unit.
