Thermal v night vision scope

50m lens, LRF and better 18650 battery option.

OR

50mm lens and 640x480 sensor

Whilst I would agree that the combination of thermal spotter and NV scope is fine, there are many situations where locating the quarry after the thermal has spotted it with the NV can be difficult. This really applies in long grass etc.
I'm out most nights with either thermal/NV, thermal/Lamp or thermal/thermal. With the quality of thermal today, recognition really shouldn't be a problem anymore. For me, the most effective setup is the thermal/thermal option.
Having said all that, occasionally I go back many years to my youth when I shot many foxes on the lamp. Just last night I used the thermal (Habroks|) together with a torch (Speras T1) and had a chicken stealing dog fox at 130 yards.
One certain permissions. Rabbits run out of field and back to safety of scrubby banking. And only thermal can see them. Still nv gives you a great view. As long as it's a fairly clear. With no Cover.

Well no brainer opticswarehouse.co.uk
Have just dropped this to this price absolute bargain

I was in the same boat always had nv scopes pvs pards photons etc upgrades to a thermal spotter game changer but was very reluctant to switch to a thermal scope but did first few months you start doubting if it is a fox etc in poor conditions where as the eye shine if ir confirmed it was a fox and you get used to your kit and the image of everything like this evening I forgot my spotter and used my mates older pulsar version which I had before and was struggling to I’d stuff but if I had to choose now and sell everything else I’d keep my thermal spotter and alpex 4k as it does everything of a day scope and hell of a night scope

Don’t shoot any more now, retired in January. Best I found was accolade xp50 for spotting and longbow on rifle.
You can’t beat a longbow for I’d and shooting out to 300 yds. The longbow could see whiskers on fox at 400 yds.
I had the hik thunder 2 with 50 mill lens on a 223 as well and that was prob the best thermal scope I’ve ever used.
The thermal scopes are getting better every year and out to 300 yds are great

Ian the TQ 50 is this a 35 sensor on it or a 12 sensor on it

The TQ50 ( Thunder 640 ) is better. Its a higher resolution sensor 640x480 12um and a longer 50mm focal length lens. So you getting a wider field of view, more detection range and a better image due to the higher res sensor.

I went from Pulsar NV spotter + Pulsar N355 (I still have for my daughters air rifle) to Pulsar thermal spotter + Pulsar N355 to Pulsar thermal spotter lrf + Pulsar Trail XP50 & now have a Pulsar thermal spotter lrf + Hik Thunder 2 TQ50. The Hik can identify everything the spotter struggled with to around 300y and is from what I have seen from other manufacturers for the price is amazing.

Thermal & Thermal for me .
Had the Thermion2 XQ50 for nearly 3 yrs now combined with thermal spotter & won't go back to NV now.

Been contemplating either getting either getting the hik thunder 35 or the arken zulus.Im not that much into tech stuff ,could somebody tell me which of the two would be easiest to set up .
