Thermal with rangefinder or binoculars with rangefinder

My stalking circumstances have changed from totally, thick woodland stalking where 100 yards was a long shot to far more open ground. Where there was no need for a rangefinder before I’m now able to spot deer at far greater range. I already have a good set of Swarovski binoculars and a decent ATN thermal, my question is, would I get as good results from a thermal with rangefinder as binoculars. Which ones should I upgrade and what are your recommendations?

I would say that if you plan on shooting in the dark then thermal with a range finder is a good idea.

If you plan on using the thermal to spot deer during daylight too and mostly shoot using normal glass then binos with a rangefinder.

I have a thermal without LRF but I only use it for spotting deer and squirrels in thick woodland during the day time so I don't need it to judge distance for me as I can do that anyway.

If you've already got a good pair of Swarovski binos and a thermal why don't you get a separate range finder. I bought a secondhand Nikon for £40 which ranges out to 550 yards. I had some Swarovski EL Range previously but found them bulky and heavy and didn't like having electronics built into the binos because in case they went wrong.
