Things To Do In Lockdown

Apparently, it’s all about going r e a l l y slow.

I think she’s trying to tell me something.

Well, happy to give it a go. But I’m not holding my breath. Er, that didn’t come out right... oh bollocks you know what I mean.

There’s tantric masturbation too so I am told! In that particular conversation, my missus said that if I don’t stop being such a fukwit, then all I’ll get is four weeks of DIY, which is what I thought I was going to do anyway, but she put a different spin on it altogether.

Back in the day l was known as ‘pump pump squirt’ (why waist time after all it was about pleasuring oneself) now it takes me all night to do what l used to do all night, now is that what you call “tantric sex” ?, If l were you I’d give it a go what have you got to loose, it’s either grit your teeth and get on top of this, what’s the alternative....four weeks of DIY....l feel sorry for you really, I’d rather go for the DIY.
BEST OF LOOK mate .......if you need help give me a shout.......

Well ...
All my kit , jackets trousers , wet gear roe sacks etc ....and my tent as well all been out and blootered in Diverdave Repel...

So if and when do get go ahead to venture forth ......everything all re-proofed for a wet ...summer autumn or whatever

My list is very long. Either some steel will turn up tomorrow and I will carry on with my normal work. Or no steel will mean I can begin on the things I have not found time for in the last few years. I started today with a little digging in the veg patch. Not looked in here for a few years. It used to be very nice and produced all our veg. Not sure how it got so over grown or why I have wandered off my earlier path in life. So took the old digging implement up and made a start.View attachment 153613
Will finish off tomorrow ready to get planting.
Wood master if you are using that machine it should speed up getting your veg patch sorted, do they do a bigger one

Gardening competition here. Off to a good start, with plenty of crops now in the ground.
We grow about an acre of fruit and veg for domestic use so, with two of our children home for the duration we've taken a plot each and each been allocated certain crops. Prizes will be awarded for best kept plot, highest yield, etc etc.

It's drying nicely in this glorious weather. Will level it tomorrow afternoon. My plan then is to use the wake plate to make some nice paths and break the area into sections. I do have a 12 tonne machine but thought that was a bit excessive. So the little 8 tonne one had to manage. I guess the rest will be done with a 1RB.
It's great to see people are doing positive things and enjoying this forced break. I think it will be a good thing for me, and hopefully many others.

Can't have too many of these

Especially when recent winds nearly took out an existing wood store. Been on the list for maybe 6 months but 2 days of lockdown and it's done. May even start some splitting tomorrow once I've made a start on the garden

Very impressive plus one of those jobs you would never seem to get round to. I am working my way through my list but sadly all mine are indoor jobs. Have a Koi pond and will be emptying and cleaning plus maintenance to UV and filters but I am “ saving that up” for when the weather improves.

Managed to do some before the splitter went down. Hopefully a starter capacitor will arrive before the weekend so that I can get what I have on the floor packed away.

That looks mighty impressive. One of my jobs has now been pushed back as there is now a national shortage of PAINT in populat colours Dulux Matt 2 lots of 10ltrs B&Q no, Screw fix no, even Amazon no, ordered through Wicks but delivery not till 24th April!!! It’s messing up my job list

Given we are now in lockdown and so stalking and shooting temporarily ended ( For those who want to deny this please vent your angst on the thread about that). So jobs to do I am now drawing up a list, for context I am better at developing lists than completing them, but here goes

1) Go through my pigeon shooting, stalking, and clay shooting stuff in the garage and have a full debunk, what am I actually ever going to use and what needs throwing out and sort out shelving and storage

2) Indoors same program in my shooting cupboards and gun safes full sort out and reorganisation, I have things that I don’t even know why I bought them

3) The big clean, 3 shotguns and 5 rifles full clean and maintenance, I do keep them in good condition but I feel a spring clean coming on

4) Expedition in to loft, I am out of the school if you know you will never use it again but don’t have room for it in the garage, default setting = put it in the loft. This will be a major project and I may need therapy following it depending on how much stuff I actually throw out

What is everyone else planning on???

Grow a hipster beard & start a cult.

So how does this "Furlough" thingy work? Something like this: My colleagues get circa 3-months leave with no reduction in pay (20% employer top-up) and I have to do the job of 4!

Good job we mustn't go stalking as I'd be trully gutted!

I know there is a meeting tomorrow and I am expecting that some of us will go on furlong of which I would expect one to be me. I won’t be complaining, been working harder than ever at the moment but if the company is looking to save money they will furlong as many of us as they possibly can.

anyhow, plenty of diy ongoing to keep me busy for the time being but I had a bit of a spark.
I live in a village and we get the parish magazine so I thought I would write some articles on deer, rabbits, foxes and badgers, talking about the life and habits of said animals. Try to make it interesting for people. This will let people know who I am, what I do, etc etc.
if I feeling brave I might put then on here for people to critique and others could then take it and us it in their areas if they wanted.
just something that promotes shooting and land management..

My one hope is all these people who've been furloughed pre 01/04 enjoy a seamless transition to 80% salary/wage packet come end of month. Frankly I'm not convinced it will happen that way but hope I'm proved wrong.

What mechanism does HMRC, or whoever is administering payment, have in place to identify those Organisations (large & small) who will undoubtedly abuse this unprecedented lifeline?

K

I can’t see a problem, the government making up legislation and regulation on the hoof, government departments then interpreting it, then HMRC and DWP then swinging it to action with their history of delivering excellent customer service in a timely manor

I've just been cautioned HMRC will be all over every Organisations who've furloughed staff like a virus after this is behind us so if you are an employer be sure your audit trail is squeaky-clean in all regards.
