Thomas Straker a fantastic chef and venison cook

He is by all accounts a bit of a dick (a good friends brother is involved at quite a high level with his infused butter business-which is how he got famous in the first place, infused butter short recipes on Instagram during covid which is now available in supermarkets etc).

HOWEVER, regardless of whether he’s a wally or not he is doing good for venison in the U.K. by showcasing it as a brilliant, sustainable, tasty product and so really all publicity is good publicity right?

Also isn’t at heart the ultimate respect to the animal harvesting it humanely which he does and then using every part of it and creating something great to eat which he does.

I can understand the reservations about language on here but ultimately he speaks to and like the majority of young people do and that’s where his appeal lies (Instagram) which isn’t the demographic of SD after all. It is what it is.

Plenty of people are nobs but are doing good for things we care about…need I mention Jeremy clarkson.

I agree with much of what you say, and , To be fair to him, despite his special hair dying, and choice of language at times, I think that hes doing much good for the world of game shooting and cooking.
I just saw hes put out another video on YouTube with him shooting and cooking pigeons with John Digweed. I like it and I hope he does lots more game animal cooking videos.
I love the two fingers up to that American meat eater Chanel with him calling his game eater

I will post a link here:

Kindest regards, Olaf

Sorry, I meant George, not john. Still I enjoyed the video and I think pigeon is such an underrated bird to shoot and eat. Brilliant.
I will forgive him his wrong hairstyle.
Kindest regards, Olaf

Another great example of someone elevating the fruit’s of the field.

His sh!t attention seeking, insecurity hair style is completely forgiven by me. Anyone who takes the time to build up and promote wild rabbit as a food is a hero of mine.

I Dunnoe ……
Watched couple of his videos but there’s something about him 🤨….
I’m not “ gelling “ with it
I like his ethos of course an outdoor cooking but just something about him

Paul
Exactly this. Something doesn't seem quite right with him. I'm not sure we'd enjoy a pint in each other's company all that much.

Here’s another nice simple and positive bit of game cooking I just saw.

Kindest regards, Olaf

Another one he’s just sent out for all to watch. At least he’s showing some continuity and making food films using game . How many of you have done that last week/ month/ year ? Ever …. ? I know I haven’t. Hate it or love it he’s cooking game and sharing it.

Kindest regards, Olaf
