Tikka Dovetail Screws - Are These Arrestor Pin Holes?

My Tikka M65 has a vertical screw each in the centre of each of the front and rear dovetails.

As the dovetail is one piece with the whole action , these are not holding the rail on (as in say a /Ruger 10/22). Are these therefore removable and to be used for the fitting of arrestor pins....? Item 37 in the pic.

Thanks.

would only ever be one (rather than 4) and more often than not it is fitted to the scope mount and then aligns with a slot, groove or hole on the receiver
The Tikka T3 has a slot between the screws for this purpose

you can also see the scope mounts screws on this picture

my tikka 585 300WM has a similar slot at the back of the front dovetail section.
The Tikka mounts I have have the corresponding pin like this:

So, do Optlocks have screws that fit these?

Your front Optilock foot should have a pin that locates in the hole in the top of the action, the other four holes (usually with plastic grubs in them) are threaded to take Leupold Standard bases or similar.

Tikka/Sako also produce the weaver/picatinny rail as an accessory to the T3, using these 4 holes to thread the securing screws into, from memory this also has a pin that fits the hole in the top of action as per the Optilock bases. Think this rail is on the Tactical T3 as standard.

The four holes to which you allude are for the mounting of a picatinny rail on the receiver such that you can use weaver mounts rather than Tikka specific ones.

I was disappointed to find that Tikka only put plastic plugs in the holes. Took me a while to figure out why I could not unscrew them...when a push sufficed!

Your Optilocks fit straight on without the need for any bases.

As already said you'd remove the four screws it fitting weaver base's
or a picatinny rail otherwise purely cosmetic.

Best advice stick with Optilocks you'll not go wrong...!
