Done thanks. ill see how it goes, only i wont know now if it was the spring or what i did to it,If the first 3 work fine, the only reason the next does not, is if there’s a pressure issue from below, ie, spring. At least that’s my experience.
Try and take the spring out and give it a stretch
Not quite as straightforward as that. Most likely a combination of spring & mag lips. I’ve just tweaked my 5 round M595 mag & it took adjustment of the mag lips as well as adjustment of the spring. If the first 3 work fine, the only reason the next does not, is if there’s a pressure issue from below, ie, spring. This is a never ending excercise, I'd only do it as temporary workaround.Try and take the spring out and give it a stretch
iv shot thousands of rounds through my T1X on the same mag it came with and not one single problem, 22lr and hmrSame with tikka HMR absolutely awful mags
Load the first round & see how the case wall sits relative to the mag lips.well that didnt work, now it wont chamber 3 and 4![]()
thanks DB, i will give it another goLoad the first round & see how the case wall sits relative to the mag lips.
The load second round & look again.
Repeat for rounds three to five.
Once you’ve done that you’ll have a better awareness of where the problem lies & what needs to be done to rectify it - this is why I had to adjust the mag lips & the angle of the first (top) leaf of the spring to rectify the issue with my eons old M595 five round mag.
i looked into getting a WR mag, but at £120 i thought was outrageous, £75 for the steel lipped Tikka one is bad enough, but i could probably bare that, if i knew it would work okMy T3X Tac .223 refused to chamber the last but one round in the mag.
After lots of experimenting, it ended up being the round tray.
With more rounds in the mag, the tray stayed level on the spring, with only one round the tray pushed the last round against the feed lips, but the last but one round wasn’t heavy enough to keep the tray level, as the tray is a loose fit in the mag. The back of the tray drops, and the bolt doesn’t pick up the round.
I tried reversing/stretching/warming the spring, didn’t work. Shimming the spring base to make the spring tighter didn’t work either. Shimming the front and/or the rear of the mag to get the tray to rise straight worked, but I didn’t like.
I bought a WR mag in the end, works perfectly
This is pretty much spot on what was happening with my old M595 mag.My T3X Tac .223 refused to chamber the last but one round in the mag.

Iv just had it out and bent it so that it’s level on top. To much messing about with this and I know what I’m like. It will end up being 18” longThis is pretty much spot on what was happening with my old M595 mag.
Removing the follower from the mag the spring was bent in such a way as to lift the front end when there was little pressure compressing it.
I compared this to an unused 22-250 mag I’ve got & there was a significant difference - the unused mag had a much flatter top ‘leaf’ so I put a similar bent in the old one & straight away it sat the follower up level.
Got to be worth a try before shelling out on WR mags, even if you can buy three used ones![]()
i will take one off your hands mate, if the price is rightI had exactly the same issue with the factory mags for my .223 Tikka TAC A1. I ended up splashing out and buying WR magazines instead and they worked perfectly. However, I sold the rifle, so I'm stuck with 3 of the WR mags now!
saying that, they may not fit the T3xi will take one off your hands mate, if the price is right![]()
