Tikka rifle thread

Hello guys, I’ve got 3 rifles but have never bought a brand new one I finally bought a tikka light in 243 so now looking for a moderator for it, where do I find the correct thread that I will need to buy a moderator, sorry for the newbie question but any help will be appreciated

I’ve had a look in the book and I’m guessing it’s m14 but I’m not sure

Yh I’ve got a 6.5x55 and it’s got a heavy barrel on it which is the 18x1 thread

There’s been another thread recently about the mixing of metric & imperial threads on Tikka rifles.

My suggestion is go to the RFD who you bought the rifle from & get them to source the correct moderator for it so if it turns out to be imperial not metric it’s their problem not yours!

Cheers buddy I think I have found the right thread size, me being silly didn’t read the box and thought it would be in the manual

Most mods are bought from an RFD so just go there and get the right one.

If its the roughtech as per your box then it may be 5/8-24, my 308 roughtech definitely is as per the picture

Get it measured before you buy the wrong one! Otherwise there’s a long variation wait in it for you.

If you’re still not 100% sure, I was recently told that GMK import all tikka rifles to the UK.
I fired them an email and they confirmed the correct thread for me!
From experience, better safe than sorry!

Hi,

I would always just measure it. I paid £10 for a plastic thread gauge on eBay or Amazon years ago and it’s been so useful. It has holes to measure the diameter and thread sections on the back to measure pitch. Takes any guess work out that way as manuals could be wrong etc.

My tikka is 14/1 - is there no one local you know with a FAC that you could try one of there mods for size.

According to the Tikka website all the Tikka Lite versions are 15x1 (except the Lite Veil which 5/8-24).
