Hi folks, looking at an xrs for my tikka build however I've heard a few comments on bedding issues due to poor recoil lugs, any experiences or thoughts welcome, thanks
Great, been hearing alot of mixed stories on these bedding issues, seems very hit and miss, I suppose all I can do is see how my own fairs, thanks folks
Repeatability of fitment will.help ie ensure on the recoil correctly and torque set the screws .
I have read several times for multiple stocks the toque of the stock screws can effect accuracy. But in reality I ce in the stock we usually do not take them put
My previous 6.5 creed was also in an XRS and shot superb sub 0.5 moa on a deviant action
Only point that might have some merit I'm aware of, is that many stocks that have integrated bedding block have round(ish) inlet. And that might cause an issue where action would be canted (CW/CCW along bore axis) when bolted on.
Same people compare this to cheap plastic "aligning planes" on OEM and some other stocks (located fore/aft front and rear action bolts). I wouldn't be so sure that these provide any better aligment.
Anyway you could use a level to first align the stock (use recoil lug or whatever you deem accurate enough) and then action horizontally when assembling. And/or skim bed the stock to your action.
