Tikka T3X Synthetic - plastic junk or good kit?

Hi Bruce,
Ex Forces - spent about 15 years across a whole range from SLR & SMG to SA80, LSW and GPMG. Equally fired No8 and L96. I’m certainly not suggesting that all of those were “good” - indeed many had issues but all of them felt more substantial if that makes sense?
Like many in the forces, there is a severe misconception about what is good in firearms, and marksmanship technique. Which could be improved overnight by sacking every single SASC soldier to improve shooting standards and risk management.

Buy a T3 with a wooden hunter stock.

Just spec’d a rifle for a mate. Money no object but doesn’t want to go mad or too flash, just wants an accurate working tool that’s a little bit “special”. Have gone for a T3X in a PSE stock. If not going custom I believe that’s about as good as you can get. I bet it shoots 1/2 minute. Will find out soon.

Well hasn’t this been resurrected!! Ha ha. In fairness - I did buy a synthetic T3 in .308 & also in .223 - the later of which has a heavier Varmint stainless barrel. I still think the sticks are flipping awful like and I’m not rightly sure I’d buy another one unless it was just for the action & the barrel. Equally oddly that this thread should reappear at this time - a very good friend of mine, still serving, has just got his first grant - picked up a synthetic T3 and had exactly the same thought process as I did almost 3 years ago! He’s bought a Howa Contractor in .308 (which really does “feel” a lovely rifle) and a rather nice older mint Sako with a wooden stock in .243. Ultimately when it comes to how something feels to you - you can take their advice but it still comes down to personal preference!

After all - my underpants probably wouldn’t fit you - but that doesn’t mean they don’t fit me…. Which, I believe is an old Chinese Proverb….. 😂😂
