Chassis recommendations .300win mag Tikka T3x

I’ve been lucky enough to come into possession (legally 😅) of a .300 win mag Tikka T3x “hunter”.

I’m putting together a hill stalking / longer range rifle and intend to use an after market stock / chassis system.

Problem is, I’m not a massive fan of the MDT stuff as the grip angle is just a bit wrong for me and I’m struggling to find options for the Tikka long action.

Ideally Im after a folding stock as well as AICS comparability.

Any recommendations?

From memory, a lot of Tikka stocks are sold as suitable for both the long and short action?

So if you've been looking specifically for LA stocks, it may have been hiding some results.

This is the problem, I can’t get a definitive answer.

The KRG stuff seems like what I’m after, however March Scopes the UK supplier state they’ll fit all T3/T3x actions, but the actual KRG website says they won’t.

The only KRG that specifies the LA is the echo, which uses the Tikka factory mags.

the gold standard is Spuhr, but couple of grand.
no chassis is ideal for a hill rifle. while waiting for a new tube i used to use my tiktac as my stalking rifle. it wasn’t great.

Vision from norway excellent and they now do three kinds.

Cadex Defence from canada highly thought of and not much cheaper than spuhr.

KRG bravo is probably the lightest and can be up graded with their own adjustable LOP and a vision fore end
There are other KRG models but for that kind of money i’d have a vision or keep saving for a spuhr.

What would you recommend rather than a chassis? I liked the idea of a folder for stowage more than anything!

I was lucky enough to come upon this rifle and it wasn’t a planned acquisition, so I haven’t done much research in all honesty.

If there is a better way to kit it out I’m all ears!

The KRG bravo appears to be a good value stock and the PSE stocks look like good kit?

The latest PSE are fantastic, literally world class. Lead time not the quickest. One day I will buy another.
I sold a McMillan and then bought another in fairly short order, there's a reason so many Americans shoot nothing else.
Manners are supposed to be as good but lighter - very few make it over the pond. If you can face the faff of getting one they do best of both worlds: a conventional stock that folds
Pure Precision are super good value and only 750g
Ed at @Edinburgh Rifles often has some nice stocks, I got my McMillan from him.

Another option might be one of the Foundation hunting stocks ? Should be able to get them over here via Edgar Bros ?

We have a nice clean mdt hnt26 folder for tikka long action mags
Light but very straight and good recoil absorption

Also have an Ace Game chassis that takes tikka mags though

You can change the grip angle on mdt by swaping them out with after market AR15 grips.

Alt look at pse stocks

I have owned the Bravo (Sako green, obviously!), GRS Berserk, KKC and I have handled and shot several more - for example the nice Spuhr chassis.

I used my CTR in the Bravo for quite a long time and it was glorious on the range, but I never became good friends with it when stalking. It's simply too clumsy. I think for combined stalking and longer range shooting an ergonomic stock is likely a better choice for most people. People have mentioned the PSE E-Tac and I have only handled it but my impressions are it's a really nice and ergonomic stock. The KKC suits me even better, so that's what I've been using for several years - and will continue to do so. I have the older Hunter version but the newer ones come with quick adjustable combs, the one drawback I see with my model. And they come in different colors if you're so inclined.

If you have deeper pockets and/or don't mind importing from the US, two stocks I love are the Mesa/Pure Precision Altitude stock and the McMillan Game Scout.

I have the Tikkas, 2 SA and 1 LA all the bolts are the same size, as are the mags. The SA mags have a blank to allow the shorter rounds to feed in a LA shell.

A LA will fit in an SA and vice versa.

Are you talking factory magazines or AICS?

The issue that I’m having is KRG don’t supply any dimensions.

I have surmised (possibly incorrectly) that the largest AICS magazines that their stocks/chassis will only fit the short action AICS magazines which are around 3”. The minimum LA AICS magazine width is 3.5” going up to over 3.8”.

There is no issue with the action fitting as Tikka SA and LA are the same size as you say, it’s the magazine well and its ability to accept magazines that are capable of feeding .300wm.
