Tilley hats

In 2016 I bought a Tilley hat. Not the cheapest but very comfortable.
There was a lifetime guarantee with it but I never trust these things.
Yesterday I applied as the material over the forehead had worn thin and failed.
At 04.30 I recieved an email for photos. At 12.30 they had agreed it qualified and at 12.45 there is a new hat in its way for £6 handling fee.

Well Hats off to Tilley.

Have only had mine this year.

Bought on the recommendation of one of our wee gang of Hunters - it had it's first trip to Africa in May.

The lads made much of it's 'newness' - so I got the boys to run the Landcruiser over it, to give it some credibility and patina...

Hope that does not invalidate an excellent guarantee...:-|

A really good hat, and one that provides proper protection from the sun.

Mine has had a hard life, I have worn it for many years (30?) of stalking/fishing/hiking/canoeing etc and it's still going strong, though looking a bit battered nowadays
Not completely waterproof but slows water ingress down enough to make all but a sustained downpour tolerable
Keeps the sun off my bald patch too
Glad I bought it

Another nod for the Tilley hat.

Accidentally left mine in Columbo many years ago. I think the insurance meant I got a replacement for half price or similar.

I have been wearing Tilly hats for years now. I have Harris Tweed waterproof winter hat with ear flaps and several summer ones. Started buying these because "one size" does not fit my big head 🤣

Purchased my 1st at least 25 yrs ago. Replaced under guarantee as it was worn out. Now repaired with sniper tape and lives in truck. Replacement just developing patina! Mines a T1 brilliant hat.

Totally forgot this is also why I first made the foray into Tilley ownership, a larger than average sized noggin.

Had a visit up to Blair today, and made the obligatory stop off at Bruar for lunch and a walk up to the falls before a wallet punishing wander around the place. Spotting a rack bearing a range of Tilleys, I settled on the TH5. Not cheap by any means, but worth the price tag!

I have the Tilley Mashup, made up of left over threads which is supposed to make it unique. I wear it stalking. Change it only for when it gets cold in the winter.

Restores your faith in proper brands and why you often pay a bit more

Ah - the House of Bruar - once described by a member as the place where old clothes go to die….
