Time for my middle Spaniel to take over from Chip, far too windy as these very strong SW wind do hold the tide back, it will come but with out the water the ducks will just shelter out the wind and not get pushed of with the tide.
I did drop 3 teal decoys in the bottom of the creek as they do follow that line, usually a lot further down but over time there was no point so just saved the walking also the wind was so strong the other spot gives no shelter.
Lot of duck in big bunches on the wind bit like winter rape pigeons!
Toby learnt that teal can swim underwater even in 8" of it, but he worked it out and nailed the one trying to give him the slip.
Great believer in letting them inhale the sent of quarry when they are young as it stays with them all their lives, I hid 2 of the warm Teal in the garden one up wind one not, Finn smelt my hands and was off, picked it and came back and gave to hand, the second took a bit of work but he got it, Chip had his turn

Just like his Dad he's turning out to be a strong lad that's not afraid to get his feet muddy and wet .
He's come on well and will be an asset in the coming years .
