Tom's target(ry)

There good targets. I blew a hole through my mates one with my 22250 about 4 shots in the same place did it. I ordered some and it said on them, rounds such as the 22250 not to be used under 300yrds. Now we know.

I have a few targets from Toms. Reactive fox, a couple of different gongs, KYL gong and an IPSC torso target all have seen various calibre from .17hmr threw to .338LM and are holding up well.

What I would say is from speaking to the guys at the BSS last year the business has changed hands from the original owner Tom to another chap named Tom and fabrication was no longer done in house.

The last target I bought from them took a considerable longer time to arrive than I was quoted and I had to chase it up many times with no return call that had been promised.
When the target did finally arrive the return address was a company under a different name ( a high seat manufacturer, I forget the name) and when I googled it all I could find was negative reviews, possibly an explanation for the change in quality?

ive had issues with the guy, as 3 shots at a fox head nearly went through it, .22.250 (i could see daylight) when i complained he said ill refund you, 6 months and counting, its still coming, he also said not to be used under 300 yds, i wouldnt use the guy again

i ordered a couple of targets 6 months ago, after 2-3 months of lies about it coming, being lost in the post, re sent, never turned up, more lies, being ignored i finally got a refund and in exchange i left a piece of my mind, waste of time that man, company, place.:banghead:

I have Steel Target Company stuff, great design, quality material, only one chip on an edge, which was a 112.5gr Yew Tree 270 at 250 yds, no issue as the cutting process does embrittle the edges.
Currently awaiting a reply to an email enquiry, sent a week ago, to buy more.

Waited & waited for my gong to turn up , which it did in the end , but about six weeks later from toms targets . He made every excuse under the sun why it didn’t turn up on time .
Will not use him again

Looks like absolutely everything is out of stock on their website... Can't be a good sign 😕

I suspect, it's a sideline, and he builds up enough of an order book to dedicate resources to a production run ?
Unfortunately I'm abroad at work and can't actually phone him.

just to add, the guy said there was a leaflet in the package advising not to use a .22.250 under 300 yds, there was no leaflet, he initially said he would send a replacement, i waited and waited, nothing, then he said he would refund me, and like i said, nothing, the mans the biggest liar on the planet

One of my clubs has bought Tom's targets for years with no problems and excellent service.
However, this changed when a different person took it over. Costs went up , we got billed for stuff we did not have!, difficult to contact to sort things out, they took a bit of convincing we did not have the plates.
We now get the hardox cut locally and make up the stands etc ourselves.
Most local engineering firms will buy in a sheet and cut it up for you.
Most firms probably use a plasma cutter these days. Once the " drawing" is entered into the computer, it's there for the next time, for repeat customers.

Shoppe

I’m also having a similar run around service from Tom’s Targets. Item not delivered, money taken from account and no response to emails, phone calls or texts.
Shocking service and one to avoid.

The Steel Target company were on the original exhibitor list for the Stalking Show, but not in the programme, and I didn't see them there. Almost everything is also still out of stock on their website. This seems like a redefinition of what being "in business" means. I hope it's just a hiatus, as they have previously been a great company to buy from.

I found Tom's Targets to be very helpful at the Stalking Show and they had a ready solution to my need for a gong post that accommodates the Hornady HIT target indicator. Kudos to them and their helpfulness 👏
