I've unfortunately had to make the decision to have my eldest 'tracking' dog have her last day with us. She began slowing down a couple of years ago which is hardly surprising given she'd have been around 8 years old at the time. She was an absolutely brilliant dog, the sort that would do as asked and she'd do it to the best of her ability. You could prod and poke her as much as you like with no reaction. Clip her toe nails or pull ticks off her and she'd sit there whilst you did it quite happily.
She really was the best dog a man could ask for, happy as long as she was at your side. Im glad I made the decision to stop her suffering no later and had the decency not to put her through operations for my own selfish reasons.
My Zena, enjoy those deer up in the skies.
