can anyone suggest a person to make a top lever spring for Cogswell sidelock it snapped on thursday on a beeters shoot managed to get through the day though

A gunsmith I know has a book of springs. In the event that he doesn’t recognise the spring or hasn’t got one to hand he matches the broken spring up to one in the book and orders. I learnt that AYA springs can be cut to fit a Webley &Scott.

Thanks will have ring around on monday who is liable to carry aya spares for a number four

Try Helston Gunsmiths as they have a web page with drawings of the many many springs that they sell. Also some places break guns that are out of proof for parts. Unfortunately the springs of such tend to me the most in demand and so command a higher price than, say, an simple nn-ejector extractor or trigger guard from the same gun would.

Thanks for the replies Wisemans who fitted a new spring are going to make a new one apparently the warranty has expired its only thirty years old to the day

Helstons only deal with the trade but thanks for the info
