Trailer to carry fallow

Sadly not road legal. I believe Some mods needed, not impossible, but I wouldn't want to tow one far on the public highway. @75 any thoughts?
Ah, I think I was reading it wrong and assumed the OP meant a quad trailer as opposed to a car trailer sorry

I have no issues putting fallow bucks in the largest size heck basket, a length of rope or a ratchet strap around a neck to secure that on the basket whilst you lift the back legs means it quite easy to do, a ton bag then fits over with a strap to secure the load. I am not strong as sit at a desk all day!

My basket is rated to 90kg. I’ve had double that off-road on it with no issues.

I do know that heck pack make a winch and ramp that clamps onto the basket too, have a look on the German website here Heck-Pack Hand Cable Winch for Tow Bar Mounted Carriers in the GRUBE shop

Could you not use a length of ladder as a lever? Put one end on the heck basket end, slide the deer onto the ladder in its plasterers bath/blue barrel/sled of choice, then lift up the other end of the ladder and the deer slides into the basket. This is how we get reds into the back of the truck and it's higher than a basket. Either of us can lift the end of the ladder one handed with a 70kg red on it no problem, you only need a short length of old ladder, a bit longer than what you are lifting on it.

That’s really interesting. I should be able to make something like that and as I am a lazy sod, I have a small electric winch looking to be repurposed as well. I will have a play with that idea over the next few weeks, when I get some time.

That is true but most fallow are sub 50kg (prickets does etc). I wouldn’t shoot many each year over that. Even a doe and follower usually around 50kg. Anyway I bought a freelander so I can shoot 80kg bucks 😁
That’s true! I do however think that weight beyond the rear axle is to be minimised. You can see how much most estates squat down with weight on the rear

I had a loan of this trailer during the week, very handy. But then the blokes below that pic don`t seem to need a trailer. Reported as 42 does on board, just saying with tic as some are troubled by retrieving one lol.

Has anyone retrofitred off road balloon tyres and rims onto one of these 4x4 erde trailers ?
Do the wheel nuts centres match?
