Tried lead free

Other than his snidey comment has he added anything useful to the question with his oracle like knowledge.
Honestly. It's a bank holiday weekend. Chill. After your reply you may have burnt your bridges? Why would he offer you any help?

Home rolled may prove better mty, and it may be worth collet pulling some and reloading them with your data but seated a tad lower , The data given me was to seat them deeper than the Factory data , My old unclean 270 Abolt seams to like em for now .

I'm going to measure a few tommorow and compare to a lead one that works

how does lead line a barrel if its wrapped in copper?
muir is very well respected not a troll.
sounds to me like your gun doesnt like the ammo, i doubt the fact its non tox is relevant

So please explain the findings within this article https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/ajh.25731 which shows a clear correlation between higher levels of heavy metals in the blood and leaukaemia - we are not talking poisoning levels, but quite low at 25 nmols/lt of for lead.

I am working with a team who have taken the above research are now developing cancer treatments on removing the low levels of lead. Early results are remarkable, and rather reinforce the wider science that any level lead is harmful.

To put it on a scale, vintage man was at 1 on lead in the body, industrial man is at 1000 and poisonous is at 4000. The cancer levels are at 1500.

And lead accumulates. Non of the study cohort had any more exposure than normal environmental - they were not working with lead per se. So any time you ingest lead, a fraction will be dissolved in stomach acids and adsorbed, and once there it cannot removed without drugs.

I took the same view that lead was not that bad until I started working with the above group.
Interesting stuff - so where does that leave the reloader types who regularly handle fired brass and lead bullets? Presumably their scores must be off the scale and gloves, mask and good ventilation should be de rigeur?

Please may I take this opportunity to thank all who have commented regarding the non lead issue.I would also like to take this opportunity to apologise to anyone whom I've upset by my poor grammar use but there is more to life than a few full stops lads in the grand scheme of things dont you think. We are here for a good time not a long time stop trying to pick faults with folk as there will be things you can't do that others can and vice versa.
It’s not your poor grammar that has upset folk on here especially. I’d suggest it’s your poor attitude. Remember, as an excellent boss of mine once said to me. Attitude is everything.

I asked a question and his first response was a roasting over punctuation and ive a poor attitude.I asked for opinions on lead free not an English lesson.Anyhow im off out now stalking like i was yesterday and will be tommorow also. Some of.you keyboard warriors want to try it as that was what I thought this forum was about, not the Oxford dictionary. How wrong can a man be.

you didnt need a full stop in between of and you, and you missed a space after about aswell

Ever shot PPU, or PMP ammo?
Can be truly **** in some rifles
It’s not because it’s got lead in it....

It can also be great
Your groups aren’t down to stability issues

Any ammo can group poorly
Find one that groups in your rifle
There are an awful lot out there in factory form
Where are you based?

my spelling sucks and im rubbish about punctuation but im big enough to admit it, if people cant understand your post answers wont come

Exactly. I gave up reading the drivel in the original post before I got halfway through it. It's infuriating reading posts on here that are poorly written and it seems to be an increasing problem. It seems that many don't bother to structure a question or answer properly to make it easy to understand or more importantly checking what they've written before submitting.

You don't need to 'admit' anything, @shakey jake. You probably know more about pest-control than the rest of us combined. A comma or two doesn't change that.

I do agree, Tim, that some posts can be exhausting to decipher; however, sometimes those very codes contain the most valuable intelligence. Personally, I tend to persist with them, and try to learn a little something from everyone.

Best,

Well this morning I bought 2 boxes of lead free bullets some Winchester and RWS tongue them a try and tbh they were shocking I use a piece of ply 18 inch x 12 inch amd normally draw a 2 inch black dot in the middle of a sheet of paper well groups of 4 and one bullet from each group hit the paper only one of those was anywhere near i also tried a 4 shot group using my normal lead round and they as expected all thumbnailed anyone shed any light on this is this normal I worked a load up for my 300 win mag and even working up a load they all would of done well within the inch I tbh never tried shop bought offerings for that I just bought some barnes and knocked a few up ive not the time to work up a load for the 308 at the moment hence buying a few to try and tbh its always handy knowing you can if need be buy something that works
As everyone else is saying, I think this is a stability issue.

Have you got a photo of the target after you shot it you could upload? Slightly oval holes would indicate a very unstable round.

This photo below is of a friends 17 hmr that was shot out, very extreme but you get the idea!

Another thing is, you need a clean barell , free of lead residues, before trying to achieve a good group with non-lead projectiles...
Out of interest why would a bullet containing lead leave lead in the bore?

The jacket contains the lead until it impacts the target so it never touches the bore, even an exposed lead tip won’t leave residue.

Sam

Yep to the Marmite PPU - 174gns PPU from Mosin Nagant shot at 10 yds (yes 10).

Same rifle, 174gns Sierra homeloads shot at 50 yds. Nuff said.

Suggest you try 130 class in your 308

Seat initially with decent jump to the lands (no less than .050”)

Factory ammunition - try 130 no heavier

Regardless of where the ammunition was bought , it wasn’t necessarily the right advice given by the vendor

Try again 😃
