Tripod vs shooting sticks

One thing i have done to make the trigger sticks much more stable it to pair them with a davros head from spartan. Also means you can have both hands free when in a static position to glass or use a thermal when foxing etc

Viperflex and 5th leg are the most stable shooting platform available. I use them everyday shooting deer and foxes. Adding the 5th leg I set up as a tripod first which allows you to have 2 hands free to put the rifle up and then if time permits the back legs can be pulled back for extra stability. Pretty handy to hang your kit on when gralloching too! 232451BC-5752-4A96-B985-89C6C1BA21DB.webp

It must be lovely to have the time fo construct and erect such contraptions prior to a shot! Where I come from, seconds of setting up with a sling based support is usually a privilege!

Does anyone on SD use Viper-flex quad sticks with the fifth leg for zeroing scopes? Has anyone ever done this and, if so, is it a viable way to go?

I wouldn't have much use for the fifth leg for actual hunting, but if solid enough it could be ideal for me for zeroing, due to the roughness of the ground I use to do so. I'd buy one just for that if I felt it would work well (I already have VF quad sticks).

I'd very much welcome any thoughts or experience on this.

Yes, I do exactly what you’re citing.
Very very stable and very easy to zero off viper sticks with the 5th leg clipped on.

Yes. I would rather check or set zero using the same support I was going to be stalking with. Using quad sticks (without a fifth leg) tells me what is going to happen when I pull the trigger pointing at deer.
