Tripods ...options

Further to my last comment, suwayfoto kept their word and the new arca clamp turned up completely free of charge. Now I can index it so all the control levers are on the left and i can quickly dump the tac table to clip the rifle in when needed.

There’s a lot of good options for tripods. No doubt the high end end stuff is really nice. I bought an Innorel carbon fibre tripod off amazon. 32mm max legs, 25kg rating, ball head, 2kg net weight. Fixtures are good quality with tight tolerances. It’s a really solid nicely made unit, I can’t pick any holes in it. I don’t want a really heavy one as I’ll be packing this sometimes long distances.

I also got a Fanue aluminium saddle mount, it’s a weighty little unit but locks up solid. With these together it gives a really solid rest when sitting, pretty good kneeling and on standing. I wouldn’t be overly confident of a really long shot standing, but sitting it really isn’t far off prone.

At less than half the money of a big name set up Im satisfied - and it’s not dirt cheap but a good compromise IMO. Great for binos too. Can take some photos when I get home after the weekend?

.. I got a 2nd hand set of rekon tripod at a good price without the pig saddle...one rifle has arca swiss rail and goes straight on ...i picked up a saddle from ali express so see how that goes
Lad also had a thicker legged carbon monfrotto witha huge diameter ball and was some bit of kit but a chunk heavier than the rekon....
