Trophy Import From USA

I’ve done a few brief searches but cannot find a list of what required to import a trophy from USA to U.K.

I’ve come across various posts about delays and additional costs due to incorrect or missing documents, so want to avoid this where possible.

Could anyone point me in the direction of what’s required to bring a trophy back to the U.K. from USA?

Many thanks

Fundamentally bringing any animal product into the UK is same now from wherever. There is some guidance on the Gov website Import of products, animals, food and feed system (IPAFFS)

But this won’t tell you the colour of pen the forms need to be filled in this week. Biggest challenge with British customs is there is very little ability to actually speak with anybody.

It’s fine if you are a large corporate moving £ms through, but as an individual or a small business its a complete and utter lottery regardless of what you are trying to bring in.

And if you fill in the forms with the incorrect block numerals in the wrong colour then you go to the bottom of the pile.

Find a taxidermist/trophy exporter in the US, they have loads of companies in the country that handle it! a bit of pain in the ass doing it the other way around.

An importer license is required for the person shipping any taxidermy out the states, so that's why so many exporter companies exist because your average joe cant.

When we visited Montana my friend got a mule deer done by a taxidermist, from memory the taxidermy charge came to around £500, when it came to posting it the total charge was nearer £1100 door-to-door
