Troubleshoot with Howa 1500

We all have our old favourites that look like they've been to hell and back and in our selective memories have never let us down but I reckon there is a lot of truth in what rangey said.

There is no rifle or accessory that is going to make a terrible shooter good but when guys have the basic's mastered and the difference between improving and stagnating is minuscule that's when the small little changes can make a big difference.

It's almost like a placebo effect, cross bred with a bit of sports psychology, sprinkled with that tiny bit of self confidence that was lacking.

Of course naturally gifted individuals like yourself and WH308 will just keep on keeping on come what may and more power to the two of ye.
No natural gift here buddy, just an off the shelf rifle that shoots well at the ranges I choose to take deer. I like the cheap hogue stock as I couldn’t care less if I scrape it when crawling, or it gets rained on. There are always a couple on ebay For £50 to replace it.

I’m not that gifted, the old girl shoots generally shoots better in other people’s’ hands than in mine :).

maybe Bella and whistles work for some people they don’t do it for me! That said my Howa sits in a bell and Carlson most of the time which is a downgrade from the fully adjustable GRS that it came in but when I’m using it a lot off sticks, mostly night work, It goes back in the hogue.....

Yep, mine got snapped last year when a buddy fell on it after I passed it to him so i could climb over a fence. Bought a new one on here for £50

The Howa 1500 SS Sporter in .243 W with the original Hogue over-moulded stock is my main deer rifle and does the job just fine, despite the stock showing a tiny bit of flex and occasionally just touching the barrel. You have to ask yourself, if you read the comments that this effects accuracy, if that is people just repeating what they have 'learned' from reading this on Forums, or are these comments from people with personal experience of using a Howa with Hogue stock? In my experience the Howa 1500 is perfectly accurate for typical UK deer stalking scenario's which in most cases means 50-150 yards shots.
