Truck bed winch solution anyone

i was thinking of a bracing frame out of box section ( as shown above ) but instead of bolting, using box section with corresponding holes & pins with R-pins to secure (or those circle clip pins that really nip yer fingers ) and having it modular but not requiring any tools to put in ... that way only have it in vehicle when needed it ...power would be cigarette plug with correct amp / fuse in it and either run with engine going or have a leisure battery with suitable connections back to a cigarette adapter ..or anderson powerpoles be better..

we use lot of modular frames at work that are pinned and use R-pins to stop pins coming out and its quick and easy

From my experience clips and pins are fine but having fitted lots of winches from a land rover to a artic recovery trailers also seen some really poor examples fitted to transit type recovery vehicle's which were bolted on to uni strut

You can't beat a good mechanical fit as it adds a lot of strength because there is no play to start the bit of movement which will go un noticed. The classic one is we have all seen on the side of the road is the little fishing boat past it's sell by date with a cooked hub or folded back as it was rotten.
@deerstalker.308 Andy's frame in his truck is v good as it is over spec but he gets some monsters, mine is for winching my 200amp 13hp welder in the buck as I have down sized from the trailer and people still bitch at the cost but don't account for the time moving and hooking up trailers also some **** wanting to nick it lol

I previously saw this solution on youtub.com seemed effective, inexpensive and simple. The advantage in this part of the world is that we generally have many trees available as an anchor point, enjoy! Hope this helps.

:)

If I'm doing bigger stuff I normally have the quad with me on the trailer behind the pickup. If I take the trailer with me behind the quad then I can get deer into the trailer easy enough by dragging them up the ramp in a plasterers bath then back at the pickup I swap the trailer from quad to pickup and use a bit of ply to slide the bath from the trailer straight up onto the pickup tailgate and into the bed. I managed a 105kg stag on my own no problem but I parked the quad alongside the trailer and used the winch and a snatch block to drag a 140kg fella in. Worked a treat.

Now in its 2nd incarnation as needed it modified when moving from L200 to a Hilux

Would need to measure tomorrow if I get a chance, circa 1-1.5 inch though, but will confirm
Thanks for replying, like the idea of using the existing anchor points and bolts rather than drilling new. It won’t be for Reds only Fallow, so as @Tim.243 mentioned possibly 40mm box section and maybe 4-5mm gauge ?
Will search for someone near me that could knock it up for coin .
I extracted a Buck of 45+Kg ( not the biggest ) by hand up a hill out a Wood the other week and would rather not do that again not up for a hernia 😂.

40x40x3mm wall for the frame would be my plan but a bit of 50 across the back for the winch.
You are only pulling deer up a ramp not a car out the ditch...

I'm not sure if you meant using vehicle mounted winch to aid in carcass recovery?

If yes, you have a long night ahead... check your winch manual, or if not bought yet do some research. Retrieve speeds are only single digit meters per minute for most models.

I use a tressle to get height at the lifting point. Front connection is the fitted tie down points and a cable nicked off a body building machine. Manual pulley system, boat pulleys here 2:1, no electrics. Just swapped over to double pulleys that give 4:1 advantage.
