Turkish barber shops

I noticed we have a Turkish barber opened too. Are these 'proper' Turkish barbers, cut throat razors, hot towels etc? Or is it just a guy purporting to be Turkish armed with a comb and scissors?

My local guy charges £5 for a number 1 setting and eye brows trimmed. Odd that as i get older my eyebrows are akin to dennis healey's and my ears look like they have two shaving brushes stuck in them.

And for all you guys with full heads of hair, do not take it for granted. I started going bald in my mid 50s.

All with Mercedes of course and new mont cler ski parkas.. yet very few customers. Flourishing businesses.? All seem to rent spaces with storage and back rooms as well.

Just asking for a friend who’s not sure what the average hard working person is doing wrong..

Many are trading in so much more than haircuts
 
A thought to consider, 1 pound is worth over 40 lira ( well it was in September) a meal and drinks for four can cost 2000 lira, if you work in the uk live in shared digs, save like hell you can make a big difference to your family back there, where wages are so low, you struggle to get by.

The guys near me are nearly all from Kurdistan/Northern Iraq.

They do they do the hot towels and razors, nose waxing etc.

You do have to remind them quite quickly that you dont want to be dowsed in their house brand aftershave at the end of your cut.

I don't disagree about the number of them around being fronts. We have a handful in a small town, only two are flat out.
 
There are 4 within a mile down our high road. Fully fitted out and have hardly any customers. The 2 non Turkish barbers are always busy. I would suggest they are a front as no way they survive the rates/rent on the limited customers they have.
 
I used my regular barber for years , took my sons there when kids, he opens at 10 am ish, closed Thursdays, open half day Saturday to go pub to watch football, always a sign on Window “ back in 15mins , he can’t shave” 🤷🏻‍♂ the Turkish barbers moved in our town, they are packed, they open 7am 7 days a week , a working man can get a trim before work, or on a Sunday, they know what hairstyles youngsters want so they go there , I succumbed and tried them, cos my barber was closed, to go pub🤷🏻‍♂️ I had a good trim, friendly, spotlessly clean, when chatting some from of them from Iraq , Afghanistan, ect. These were empty shops they took over, no one local wanted them, suppose we could all go on forever, the business I am in I take cash only, only cos I don’t have a card reader 🤣🤣
 
in didcot town center there are FIVE turkish barbers and NONE of them take card payment ,they are ALL CASH ONLY .!!

A meal and drinks might cost holiday makers 2000 lira but if you're resident there you will not be eating in tourist hotspots, When I'm working abroad I always go and eat with the locals I'm working with, One reason they know all the cheapest places to eat and the other to learn a little of the local culture.

Isn’t it amazing how many people suddenly vape, need haircuts and phone repairs!!!

Yet, the TV Licensing ‘officers’ are out in full force to solve the crimes that we commit by ‘not’ watching BBC 😂

I don't think "bubble tea " shops are laundromats. Regrettably my daughter likes bubble tea. They appear to be employment schemes for mentally-deficient, cosmetically-trowelled, musically-challenged Asian transsexuals.
