TVP - Restrictive conditions applied at renewal - removed

Hi Liveonce, JTO,

#20 - only some of the HOG for/on Firearms is Statutory -
Linky: https://assets.publishing.service.g...ms_Licensing_Statutory_Guidance_Feb_2023.pdf?.

Unfortunately, notwithstanding the Home Office having spent tax payers monies to draft and issue, the 'Non-Statutory' is '...just guidance' as far as TVPLT see it (mentioned as such in the complaint outcome report) and likely many others too......so worth what?

#19 - ah yes, I work with them :)!

indeed statutory guidance = oxymoron

What a fight, well done for standing your ground. It seems that the home office guidance on larger calibers is just not well thought out. At my last renewal I was given a hard time over my variation to update an existing .338 WM rifle, I pointed out that I had used one for the past 25 years for red deer in Scotland, it was eventually granted. I'm sure that they are witling away at the number of FAC holders with larger caliber rifles by making things difficult. Most FAC holders are easily intimidated by these unfair and arbitrary tactics.

Having just got back from an Africa buffalo trip using .375 H&H, I'm thinking of moving up to either .470 NE or .500 NE in a double rifle for future use. Should be an interesting variation application and discussion.

It is my experience, that you can have what you like for 'abroad' (plus zeroing on appropriate ranges), the drama which seems to be gathering momentum, is that 'they' do not want you to have the larger calibre stuff for use in the UK (although they don't seem to mind passing the dairy off to Scotland, for you to use North of the Wall).

Any step down on an existing FAC even ammo allowance is a “partial revocation” and should be challenged
Do not accept anything that is not detailed in HO Guidance or Firearms Act
Too many Police making suggestions to conditions on a whim

have had two people this week alone who have been told they need to do a course or have proof of mentorship by a supposedly more experienced FAC holder in order to get a centrefire

This in spite of owning a farm for good reason, being an FAC holder already and having a rimfire

Crackers

Far as i am aware , the Chief Constable can add conditions to any FAC and it would be down to the applicant to take that into court ? I think that gets the Cops out of any direct blame if it all goes wrong . Heck some forces seem to have gone much further

Wrong:
They are specifically requested to NOT add additional and unnecessary conditions by the Home Office
