Tweedl Longthorne shotgun

Well I christened it on Saturday with a brace which was nice as didn’t really get anything near me they were shot after another gun had missed.
And I can honestly say she will not be a cabinet queen, she’ll be out in all weathers getting used.

Had my first little driven day with the Longthorne on Monday and it performed faultlessly unlike myself, managed to shoot some nice birds but missed some easy driven 🤦🏻‍♂️.
But that said the day was stunning, not the best for pheasant shooting weather wise (bright sun and no wind) bit some amazing views and a great bunch of guns, it’s the second time I’ve shot this spot just out the back of Hawes and both times I’ve just stood on my peg taking in the views it’s fantastic and to cap it off on the last drive I was down the side of a frozen wood with a view across the valley shot 2 nice cock birds and watched some amazing woodcock chinking left and right across the sky and in and out of the wood, I love these birds and no longer shoot them and the images of them on Monday I will remember for ever.
Its a massive thanks to Bunny and his brother two of the nicest men you’ll meet and all the beaters and pickers.
just a great day and a privilege to be able to shoot there.
Days like these are magical.

Think this might be the arctic special edition another snowy day.
Just thought I would mention as well I wanted to quiz Jim at Longthorne about something today and so I dropped him an email and 5 minutes later got a response asking for my number and a minute later I’m on the phone talking to the man that designed and built my gun.
Don’t think there is many gunmakers that you would get that kind of service from.

The stock I chose is what Longthorne call a grip tech so it is similar to a glove stock but without all the individual grooves for the fingers and although it looks quite chunky once you’ve held one and used one a standard game stock now feels all wrong.
The stock once the basic shape and size is machined is then custom fit by Jim for length, cast, comb, palm swell and grip are all shaped to fit.
I never took a picture to show but there is quite a bit of cast on the stock also.
