UK 2030 petrol and diesel ban

I heard recently that 50% of UK air traffic is private aircraft flights. Therefore, I reckon that if private petrol and diesel road traffic is to be banned from 2030, the same should apply to private aviation fuelled aircraft.
What’s good for the goose and all that!

Usually owned by the more affluent in society so they will be exempt.
Personally I think the bongo initiative will be delayed . Reality will rear it ugly head and dash the idyll.
Aye, given the impending general election, we can expect all sort of lies and nonsense to spew forth from political parties. Only after it's done will we perhaps see a reality check. Whether that will lead to a pragmatic delay or cancellation of that nonsense who knows.

That statistic is utter horse manure, private flights are around 4% of aviation and be careful before you rush to condemn, that includes air ambulance flights and organs for transplant.

They'll allow existing petrol and diesel to continue to be driven but they'll try and tax them off the road so they'll become a luxury only available to the well off.
Many of the small trades jobs will be swallowed up by big firms who can afford electric fleets and the small man will be driven out of business, while personal users will be forced onto public transport.
Rural drivers and the rural self-employed who need fossil fuel transport will simply have their lifestyle, their jobs and their choice to remain living in the countryside where they were born legislated out of existence and those with deeper pockets will take their place, both in the jobs and the housing market. All in the name of saving the planet.
It will be a great leap backwards in terms of de-democractising personal liberty, choice and individual prosperity. A return to feudalism by default.

So where are your figures for pollution per passenger per mile travelled
Or is this just a moan about the petrol and diesel phase out ?

With the exception of the last couple of sentences, that sounds like you cut & pasted from "the plan"...

If my oil boiler breaks after 2026, and is irreparable, the current bright idea going through Parliament is that I won't be able to buy a replacement as the plan is to ban the sale of new oil boilers.
We don't have gas, so only option will be a expensive heat pump and complete renewal of the CH system, or cover the roof with panels and hope that is sunny occasionally.
Meanwhile China has pumped out more Co2 in the last Eight years than the UK has produced since the industrial revolution 220+ years ago.

Oh, our species has a short memory:
Model Shows Extent COVID-related Pollution Levels Deviated from Norm
Remember the political elite putting a positive spin on the impact of C19 lock-down upon air quality? The 2030 ban on new private diesel and petrol cars will only be the start of it. Mark my words, the 'Special advisers' are out to ban the use of all private fossil fuel combustion engines. They'll be coming for your Briggs Stratton lawnmower, your Stihl chainsaw and Seagull outboard - although, you'll probably be able to keep it as a memento.

I wonder when the electricity fails how long all the batteries will last if there's no recourse to a back-up combustion engine generator? I predict load shedding ahead.

Anyway, don't panic apparently capitalism will save us and if you don't believe that you'd best buy a horse that doesn't fart.

Leaded fuel was first introduced in1922, ............ Japan was the first country to totally eradicate lead from its fuel in 1972, Then Europe and a number of Asian countries followed, at a UN conference on August 30 2021 a statement ... monumental news that petrol had officially been rid of lead ...... 90+ years that has taken to come about.
Really have no worries for my inner Gas Monkey.:-|

What we are seeing in the big cities with congestion charges, ULEZ, no traffic streets etc… is fine there and will continue. They can roll out the new infrastructure and have the public transport systems to back it up. In rural areas the government (any government) will back away from it. Infrastructure can never be rolled out everywhere, no interest or money to invest in rural public transport so fossil fuel cars will be given an exemption in rural areas. Expect to see diesel cars banned and petrol remaining as a sop to the action groups.
