Going to stay in Alcester tomorrow for four nights, booked months ago so that my wife and I could attend the UK Game Fair at Stoneleigh this weekend. Wish I had the £95 I paid Blaze Publishing in May for two VIP tickets in advance. So much for VIP! Gone but not forgotten as the perpetrators will no doubt surface somewhere else within those who leach off the genuine shooting community.

It's funny, when I first saw this advertised, I thought that using Stoneleigh was a good idea. Then I saw who was promoting it and the strange antics such as trademarking terms like 'gunmakers row', so I lost interest.

The annual return gives one of the Directors as James Wesley Stanton but this isn't reflected in the "Officers" tab.

Which is where smoke and mirrors might be kicking in...

I don't really care enough about him, Blaze or Future, but they have cost a lot of folk a lot of money, and karma has a way of appearing when least expected

I wonder if Mr Carr (sporting Rifle ) and BASC will have the bare faced cheek to turn up at the game fair

This from the Guntrader blog on 6th July, but highlighted in their monthly email update that has just arrived:

Future shrouded in mystery
Just over a month ago there came the news that the shooting magazine publisher, Blaze Publishing, had sold its titles, which include Gun Trade News and Sporting Rifle among others, to publishing giant Future. Interviewed in the latest issue of Gun Trade News, Future MD, Joe McEvoy was asked about his plans for the magazines and in particular about the investment it had made in the UK Game Fair. When the sale had been announced Blaze Publishing’s owner, Wes Stanton, had been effusive about Future’s involvement in general and its promised support for the UK Game Fair. The interview with McEvoy was carried out before the announcement that the event had been cancelled, but published after it and it highlights the disjunction between Stanton’s welcome to Future and what then followed. It is most in evidence in the rather circumspect way that McEvoy answered one question in that interview. Asked how Future planned to support the event, he said: “We will ensure that the magazine portfolio helps in whatever way was appropriate and we will work closely with the UK Game Fair team”. Hardly a ringing endorsement. So what happened? Did Stanton misunderstand what was being promised by Future in respect of the UK Game Fair or did they get cold feet when asked to put some cash on the table. Stanton, usually an open and engaging figure, is silent on the subject.

I purchased VIP tickets for UK game fare and booked accom accordingly. Will be going to Ragley Hall Game Fare but as yet received no communication regarding replacement tickets. I have lost my original accom fee as unable to cancel and refund, spent another £140 re-booking accom. I understand I will have to purchase VIP tickets again without the discount this time.....bit peeved to say the least.

No refund given on VIP tickets...now having hassle with Bank trying to claim VIP ticket costs.
Went to Ragley and disappointed in Game fair, very few rifle manufacturers ,No GMK, Swillington etc and fishermans row a waste of time.
