No, I think it will still happen, but maybe take a little longer until whichever member of the government inherits the responsibility for it
They'd be daft not to proceed with the change because they can claim to have reduced the number of firearms in circulation by 34% over night
That's just too tempting an easy win for any government to ignore

I don't wholly agree with NABIS, I don't think that moving moderators off-ticket will weaken our firearms laws, nor do I think that removing the requirement for certification would lead to an increase in criminal use.
This is just my feeling/opinion, I don't have the data NABIS has to back up my claim.

I also don't think that the author of the document has much of an idea about how FAC's are issued.
Their statement at the top of the last page "could save costs as a separate application would not be needed" isn't reality, again it seems that they think each 'gun' and each 'moderator' has a separate certificate .... where is this coming from ?

I really do not appreciate the personalisation of your comment re incapable or lazy.
This subject has been well covered in another thread which gets auto linked to this one.
My point was a general one re the self generating inefficiency of our public sector.
Cynic ? guilty.
Correct ? probably.

I think it’s already happening as, when GMP arrived at my abode to seize my firearms a few weeks ago, one Polis said to the other: There’s 2 moderators on his certificate and the other Polis said: we don’t need to take those, and they didn’t!

As far as I am aware this legislation has gone through it's readings and amendments in the Commons, it will now have to go through a similar process through the Lords before moving onto Royal assent.

Looks like they want to remove 10s of thousands of moderators from Sect 1, and replace them with.......wait for it.......... 100s of thousands of shotguns.
