You don't actually need to clean cases but it makes inspection easier and keeps , the risk of any , detritus out of the reloading process and chamber .
I use a cheap ultrasonic and have done for a good few years , I decap , anneal then size first to allow for primer pocket cleaning . If shiny cases are your thing look elsewhere , others will recommend wet tumblers .
For me I find the ultrasonic to be all that is needed and economic , Lyman additive , one ten minute cycle, rinse and dry .
A ten minute boil in Citric Acid (two teaspoons for two pints of water), followed by half an hour in a tumbler with walnut shells, and they come out like new.
I serviced dive regs for a good while and used to put the parts in clean butter tubs as that way the stronger solution never made contact with the units sides just the warm water.
it worked for the regs that had been left green in a dive bag for months at a time.
