I was out last night in a high seat sitting after a mange infected fox that the local village had complained about.
Out of the corner of my eye races 6-7 boar from the forest edge across a 20 metres grass patch into a standing corn field, then 10 minutes later they come out of the corn and across my front into a freshly cut wheat field to graze, bu##er me!!! I could not get my 48mm objective Docter scope to pull in enough light to do a clear shot off but was sitting there tensed up with the safety off and in the aiming position for minimum 10 minutes, then I hear a noise and look down and the mangy fox walks by directly under my high seat ha ha.
Now it is 10.30pm so I descend and go slowly halfway back to the car and then this sounder comes back across the field towards the corn field again, they must have been only15-20 metres away so clear was the sound and could just make them out with my Zeiss 8x56 monocular and they did not get my scent for over 10 minutes until whoof.... they all ran off, but it was way too dark to get a shot off, though it was a hell of an experience - had me shaking afterwards.
Guess where I will be tonight but better equipped this time.
