Blimey!!!??????What The !!! who rattled his cage??Someone been calling him or summat??It is a Forum fer krissakes!! of course we are not going to post under our Given names.That is just part of being on a forum,You can't hide beind a user name as it is just like your given name It identifies who you are.As far as everyone else on here is concerned we are who we say we are and there is no getting away from that.As for garbage being put forward for others to read.Well if someone has an opinion on something that differs from yours,that is good that is what debate consists of.That is what is known as being DEMOCRATIC or would you rather live life under a totally different regime??something Like a DICTATORSHIP for instance.Sounds like you would rather have have everyone thinking the same as you do.Well That will never Happen,not on this site we are so diverse a bunch of folk on here That some of us won't even believe the grass is green if we are told by someone else.Others will be pedants just for the fun of it.If some of the posts get to you then you must have a very thin skin,I have never heard so much cobblers in my life.If you know that something posted by someone is entirely wrong then politely point out why it is so.Otherwise Just have a coke and a smile and shut the ***k up.

I agree with the have a coke and smile, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, but is it really a good idea to encourage drug taking on a forum like this?
 
A chap that I used to occasionally shoot with was murdered when his house was broken into, actually they were let into the house after knocking on the door as I recall. The purpose of the whole thing was to get his guns.

In this country (Northern Ireland) it makes good sense not to broadcast your real name and details on an easily searchable internet forum, it is just basic common sense. It is also not much of a problem to others on the forum as in most circumstances knowing your name or other details is not going to make any difference to the validity, or lack of, of your posts.

I would, therefore, suggest that it is worthwhile to keep your details off a public forum if at all possible.

I thought my identity would probably be easier to find by my user name than by my christian name, as I use the same name on other sites etc. So, to test this I just typed in VSS to google (the first time I've tried this) and came up with:

Modern Firearms - VSS

so I was wrong!
 
Although I haven't made many posts, there are a few people on this forum that know me personally, even a couple that know my address and phone number. My username is one that I use on most forums, including foreign ones (yes Muir, I even enjoy your posts on RFC!)
It makes no difference to me, whether people use their real names or not, as quite a lot of people put their names at the end of their posts anyway!
I wouldn't however, put my surname, address or phone number on a forum, that is just asking for trouble!
