Personally, I don't give a toss what some member on here thinks about using made up names!

The fact of the matter is I don't live in a 'sheltered world' it's known as the 'real world' and with only about 8 folk in the directory with a surname of similar spelling to mine, I would rather that ****s out there did not know where I lived with my young family, guns in the house, a kennel full of dogs and an invite to my 'peaceful world' going out to anyone with a computer sitting in the 'other world' the OP is obviously so oblivious to!

Neat topic. What matter is the name the person posts under? It's what they say that matters. The idiots move on and change their name, the people with some back bone hang in there and take the heat. What good would knowing my "real" name do other than put one more bit of personal identification out on the internet?? Most of us -despite our pen names- are pretty open about where we live. I have an uncommon surname and it's already well known that I am from central Montana, USA. It would take anyone with a telephone book 5 minutes to find me and have a go at my gunsafe. With that in mind, I might say that it's nobody's business what my real name is. Were we all in a room talking? No problem. Will I volunteer to become Troll fodder? Nope.

I am with the majority on this subject , why would you wish to advertise your real identity for all to see ( ones own choice ) i have given the county where i live and given a further idea of which area by the handle i use so in turn people who are familier with the area can make further assumptions and ask me through PM if they wish .

Whether you use your real name or a forum name is immaterial if you have been here a while, and actively get involved in the site because people will soon meet you though one event or another. While I don’t post under my real name a lot of members know me and shoot with me, if I am talking boll**ks on here I will say nothing different in the real world. Another reason for not using your real name is identity theft. Tom just because we post under a forum name that does not make us all of us anonymous.

Incidently, I post under an abbreviation of my christian name. There are photo's of my good self in my gallery, and some of my guns. My location is in my profile and I think my e-mail address can be seen by other members too.
It didn't take my FEO long to work out it was me
