V R Balfour-Browne

My Grandfather loved his Highland Holidays - usually upper Speyside and I adored it also. My first trout on a fly in the burn in Glen Banchor [so small it had to go to the chemist to be weighed], meeting the keeper/stalker Angus Bain, and seeing his 'keeper's gibbet of wildcats, foxes, hoodie crows, stoats and (a very few) weasels. These were great men who achieved and also told funny stories about themselves. They worked and played energetically. They appreciated nature and kept a balance in nature between predators and game/prey species.
