Variations , how annoying are they ?

Sell a rifle but need a variation to then get a vacant slot for the same type of gun , then miss the 7 day window and get screwed for £50 to get a slot you already had !

Stupid stupid process.
Why can you just inform them of selling and get a replacement cert with the empty slots back automatically.

Money grabbing , that’s all it is .

I reckon, if you have been granted said calibre, and sold it on. The granted calibre should remain open to acquire another of the same calibre.
If you wish to apply for another calibre, then an administration charge should applied.

True ... at £500 i don't think I would want to be varying anything though .. and I cant actually fault the service from Dyfed Powys Police

You need to read para. 10.34 of the HO guidance which says that within reason there shouldn't be a time limit.

Move to Essex! They'll do a variation at the Game Fair / Stalking Show etc. so you can get it all done & dusted there and then. Brilliant service. Shame some of the other Forces don't seem to be able to provide similar as if one can do it, they all should be able to surely?

Just have to wait for one of the shows to get a variation. Their post-in/online form variations are not as quick as they once were.
Essex have had a few staff leave around the New Year period and las I heard they hadn't been replaced. If/when they are replaced it'll take a few months to train them up I would think, especially if recruited from outside the force.
