Veganuary

Actually you've got a good point and a potentially successful business venture.
Remember a few weeks ago Fieldsports Channel TV 786 showed some birds being thrown into the air to be shot? Why not substitute them with seasonal red and savoy cabbages instead of partridges and pheasants, or even sprouts instead of snipe?
How very dare you suggest treating Sprouts in such a way.!

250 driven cabbage day for sale @£60 per cabbage. White cabbage's shot will cost a donation of £100 local vegan causes. Lunch provided (please state dietary needs in less than 4,000 words)
Leek flighting also available at further cost.
Asparagus stalking considered ( trophy fees charged - full mounts catered for)

Nobody likes a zealot but what's even sadder is that these people often think they are doing it for the good of the planet so misinformed are they about the impact of what they do. The fact is that many things which vegans eat are actually worse for the planet than eating meat reared locally and far worse than eating meat from deer which have been shot with the resulting reduction in damage to forestry, for example avocados and almond milk both require huge amounts of water to cultivate and are usually transported long distances to where they are consumed.

Some of the beating team once plied my spaniel with sprouts during a shoot lunch, the outcome was far from environmentally friendly!

I'm someone who makes my livelihood form people eating meat. I'd be screwed if world went vegan. Does that mean I seek out vegan content just to bash it? Nope. Does it mean I just accept we're all different & can still get along..... Happy new year y'all.
Whilst I applaud your respect of people’s right to choose, I think you’re rather naive to the vegan we are right your wrong philosophy, who would be applauding if you were to loose your livelihood.

I'm sure you're right, there will be some extremes. But equally, without sounding blasé, I can't ever see a time in my life time when that happens.
I think the press makes a bigger deal (it sells papers) of people who choose a vegan diet taking over the world.

The reality is, I don't know a single person who is vegan. Majority, vast majority, of my friends are from non farming non shooting backgrounds. I'm friends with some very liberal thinkers. I also have 3 kids, all who have friends. None of my friends or my kids friends (the future) are currently following a vegan diet. People like meat. Thank god for that! I'm not losing any sleep over it anyway.

I hope you're right.
The problem with a lot of minority right's groups (apart from shooting) they shout the loudest and get listened too by the media and people in authority.

I was In a restaurant recently and somehow ended up getting into a conversation with some vegan folk, they were virtually demanding that the worlds population turn vegan and they were somewhat offended by our choice of food off the menu, They started telling us how Farmers are breeding way too many Cows Sheep because they are producing more CO2 than cars and wagons and we need to stop breeding these animals for human consumption because its cruel and harmful to the environment.
I had no problem whatsoever with these people wanting to be vegan and it's there choice and good luck to them, What I didn't like was the way they tried tell us what we should or shouldn't eating and the way they tried to force there beliefs on us, I didn't dare tell them I'm a shooter, they were rude enough to start with and I think it would have just put fuel on the fire when I was just trying to have a peaceful night for our anniversary

my mrs would have rolled her eyes and said 'here we go' !!

people with extreme views like that are oh so easy to bait i wouldn't have been able to resist

Gosh I only wish I had known…..
Anyhoo….
“Roughly 1000 people have either become vegan or became involved in the vegan community/outreach through the event, which equates to roughly 3 million animal's lives spared! “.
I would love to have that one explained to me - obviously slowly and certainly not by Diane Abacus….

just to give your a flavor of their wonderful (sic) world;
I am delighted that i live in a democracy, in which people have the freedom to choose, amongst other things, what they want to eat.
Long may that continue.

What troubles me about some people , is that they want to force everyone else to live their lifestyle choices.

I've cut and paste part of the above text below.
Read it again and replace "vegan" with some othere terms used to categories people, like...
White, or Black.. or maybe Catholic, CofE, or Muslim. Or maybe Male, Female or x.
It would just jump of the page as not acceptable.

For sure, many vegans just get on with their life, no fuss.

But the bigotry displayed in the text below is indicative of some of the more extreme activists, and society should be concerned about it, and the people that promote such bigotry..

One last thought. They've used the term "community" in the text, but it seems to me that their thinking is more aligned to a "cult".

Extract from OP..
"some individuals in the community have criticised the venues/land that VCO has been hosted at, claiming vegan events should only operate at places with no ties to non-vegan activities. We empathise with this wish, as we are all passionate vegans!"

Id have no complaints if more people cut back on meat. It's seen as too much of a commodity. It should be treated with respect & Joe public should be more prepared to pay extra for a less frequent treat, but the demand for meat with every meal has driven ££ before welfare in many places.

If you think that vegans wishing to hold an event at a vegan facility is bigotry , then vegans aren’t your biggest problem .

Unfortunately we live in a cheap fast food society (grubberment policy not helping) and many choose to embrace it. 😔
