Verweisen; we need an English word.

In German tracking language Verweisen means that, whilst ont he track of a wounded animal, the dog stops and shows its handler that it has found something: blood, bone, guts or whatever from that animal.
Very useful to give you the certainty that you are on the right track.
But it would be better to have a word for it in English.
“Point” is the best Google Translate comes up with but that creates confusion with pointing dogs. Has anybody a better suggestion?

"Verweisen" is essentially the German form of "advise", as in "the dog advises its' handler that it has found something". That's a bit long-winded, although that's the beauty of the German language. I'd probably go with "confirming the trail".

It should be in English and for practical application , INDICATE the dog must indicate , the wound couch -strike point, blood spots etc. So the dog must indicate to the handler on the track what it finds.

To clearly indicate=eindeutig angeben,Verweisen=there is no known English translation,thus the Barons question/need for a word.
Whilst a hounds definitely indicates the spoor,it also then confirms you're on the right track...quite interesting different words/different pronounciations of different/same languages.
eg pronounce Aberchirder or Strachan(place names up here)pronounciation completely different.
Lots of words in German there is no direct translation
