Viperflex Idea................

Lateral

So I love the Viperflex, brilliantly stable to shoot from, and versatile with the fifth leg.............. However, with some of my shooting, I may be stood waiting for something to appear, and don't want to have to hang on to the rifle to stop it falling off the sticks.

The later rear yoke appears to be better designed than the tiny original, but it doesn't appear to be available on it's own. So for some time I've though it would be great to 3D print a better version but didn't have the means, but I spoke to a friend who has a printer, and is capable of designing a new version, and we came up with this.

The first version worked, but the sides were too high, and interfered with cheek weld, so version two lowered one side, but still allowed for a really stable support for the stock. I then realised rather than just one side of the yoke being recessed, if the recess were both sides, the yoke could be revered to suit left, or right handed mounting.

Thoughts ?

Great idea, I would be very interested in 1, though I would want the sides equal as in the left side.

What would the cost be?

I’ve never had a problem holding a rifle vertical with the sticks and leaving it standing in the sticks seem a bit mad as who knows which way the rifle will need to be pointing. Seems bonkers to me?

Not bonkers really. I mostly use mine when I'm setting up in ambush. Generally the arc of fire is fairly narrow - down a ride or wood edge - so I set up with rifle pointing in the centre of arc. This leaves my hands free to use bins or thermal spotter. Also less strain than holding a rifle in a safe direction for an hour or more. No different than when in a high seat.

And that's great, clearly not something you'd be interested in  BUT, I had the idea, because on numerous occasions the feature would have helped, where there's a window I know deer, or boar commonly appear from, and, if something does show from a different position, how much worse off would I be ?

Here are a couple of examples where I took a chance leaving the rifle, whilst I took some photos. In these cases, both pictures taken in Turkey. Not a usable tree in sight, shooting across valley. The snow made making the sticks stable very easy, but it was windy, and the rifle was easily tipped over.

This, well I think the picture speaks for itself............................ Having the rifle up, and supported, whilst allowing me to scan for movement was a game changer.

But I get it, if it isn't for you, don't worry about it, it's just an idea for people who think it might help them !
