Visla vs GSP / GWP

My first dog is a Vizsla cross Labrador, only 16 months old and he's becoming a great all rounder. Finds deer, fox and rabbit, will pick up birds and the missus will give him a can of Guinness and he'll bring it!

What a cracker, belting x breed

I’m on the lookout for a pup, we‘ve always had labs but I really fancy a pointer. I have stalked with a good indicator dog and it was as good as thermal and much more rewarding. we have always had labs in my family so I fancy a lab cross, hopefully the nature and train ability of the lab and the indicating skills of the pointer.
I haven’t ruled out a pure bred pointer or visla either, so what are the differences? i don’t really know any vislas so I’d love to know what they’re like.
GWP for me. I pick up and beat on a few shoots, and mine gets all the runners that the labs and spaniels cant catch. Nose is as good if not better than labs and spaniels. Marks well and soft mouthed. Sits quiet, and good recall, doesn’t sod off ruining the drives when beating, in fact is more biddable than a lot of the spaniels. She comes out stalking, air scents and tracks without having much training. BUT, she needs minimum of 4 miles. Twice a day to keep her sane, top food to keep the weight on, is territorial near the car with other dogs, and at 2 is just starting to stop acting like a teenager on speed. GWP will do everything the others will do possibly better and faster but needs a lot more time putting in for the first two years and even after that. Good breeding for physical aspects and especially temperament is absolutely essential. A bad GWP is a disaster waiting to happen. Ive had one. A good one is a privilege to own. Ive got one.

Thanks for that, so what are you looking for in terms of breeding? Given that I am not going to be buying from someone I know, I won’t have much time with the parents. any tips?
