Vorn ev reviews

Iv been out in the rain with mine and it didn’t get wet inside and I did 😂 mine Is the newest version so can say about the older ones. I’m going to get some waterproof spray now Iv seen others say it isn’t tho

Love my Vorn. Comfier than a sling. Probably just as quick as a sling to deploy rifle and carries my knives, first aid kit and other bits. If im going out for a good few hours it takes my brew kit and some food. What's not to love?

I’m just getting use to mine but can’t wait for next year

I’m also looking at a Vorn pack due to a shoulder injury that is aggravated by carrying a rifle on a sling. A question for those that have one; how well do the packs spread the weight of the rifle across both shoulder straps?

Really well, u can’t really feel it on ur shoulder

Just got back from stalking in Scotland. That’s the only time I use mine. It’s very useful as you can have two hands free whilst scrambling up some of the hills - on hands and knees at times. It does catch the barrel when going through the firs, but I can just about put up with that. The one thing that does annoy me is the fact that it’s not at all waterproof. Any kit held within the bag has to be in waterproof bags and it does take some while to fully dry out. My Gerber multi tool was nearly ruined last year by getting soaked. Took some cleaning and oiling afterwards.
I don’t think you’ll regret getting one, but it may need some personal tweaks to be exactly what you require.
You can get an elasticated pullover cover for them

I used a Vorn for years, but have been using a newer version of the LT12 for the past two. Been out in some horrendously wet days on the hill and it certainly keeps my stuff dry.

Incidentally, Vorn have a video from 2023 showing how to use the quick rifle release by first grabbing the barrel behind your head. I find it much easier to reach my right hand round behind my back, at just above waist height, into the slit and grasp the stock before before yanking the release handle down with my left hand.

Thought about it. Looked at them in the flesh.

Decided the over the shoulder grab is an accident waiting to happen, certainly for aging me with the weight of rifles I like to carry. I have mates (pros) who use them on the hill where that isn’t an issue and they are this years thing, BUT there are other easy ways to fix your rifle to a standard pack if you don’t need the over the shoulder thing.

I ended up just using my existing pack and fixing the rifle to the side (muzzle down) when I am walking out or whatever. Rest of the time it is on my shoulder.
Short, lightweight sling on the rifle and pull it out the side, no need for over the shoulder

Very well, weight is pretty central

Re the waterproof quote from Vorn.
Mine definitely isn’t waterproof. But it’s perhaps 5 years old now and wasn’t marketed under those new names. I think it was the mid sized one called Lynx.
Good kit - and now I know it’s not waterproof I pack accordingly.

Im thinking about one but what are they like with a bipod and would you be able to put a rifle and scope in with the addition of an ir on the scope would use it alot for foxing if thats possible. Anyone out there tried it ?

@wokingrob

I have had a Vorn for longer than I can remember.

It is perfect for the Hill (what I bought it for), as the rifle is held balanced and upright. It was on the Hill last month, carrying my beloved .275

I also use it locally, on our wee syndicate shoot. Crashing about in the dark trying to find my high seat; it holds, the rifle, binos. TI, gralloch kit - not to mention my flask and wraps.

FWIW
I have never used the "rip cord" quick release mechanism, and so cannot speak to that.
Is that the EV 45?
