Vortex Binoculars

I have seen Vortex binoculars on the website of a company called Sherwoods.

They are not very cheap, but are cheaper than the equivalent models from Zeiss, Leica and Swarovski. They look pretty robust and are aimed at the outdoor market.

I have searched a few threads on binoculars and the recurring advice seems to be save up and get a pair from one of the top makers. However, as a novice I am struggling to reconcile spending so much money.

Has anyone any experience of Vortex binoculars, good or bad or am I kidding myself that they'll be anywhere near as good as the Swarovski's that I've borrowed in the past.

Apologies if this theme has been done to bits.

Cheers,

VORTEX OPTICS

Dovebob i have been using the vortex razors in 10x42 for about three months now and for the money [£400] i still cannot find fault with them.

Ok swarovskis will always have the edge in a head to head race but you would expect that in something costing about £500 pound more.
However if you are on a budget or want a backup pair but dont want to compromise on quality then give the razors a try

I also have a pair of leicas but take the razors out with me 9 times out of ten.

Rik,

Thanks for the information. The thread about them was really interesting.

I think I'll give them a try.

Cheers,

Bob
