I aquired one of these scopes a few months ago, brand new from a pal of mine for a couple of hundred quid with the intention of trying to stretch the legs of my .308, I have to say how good it is, so far it surpassed my expectations by a country mile, I bought a couple of pairs of Hawke QR Mounts, one pair for this scope and the other for my 8x56 Schmidt stalking scope so I can swap between the two, the only fault I can find with the Viper so far is on x24 mag the eye relief is super fussy,
I zerod it the other day, bob on at 100yards, yesterday I found an online bullet drop calculator, found the closest factory round data, typed up a drop chart and converted the inches to moa, I've just been out and tested it at 200 and 300 yards, 2 shots at 200 1.75moa, both landed about 5mm low and at 300 4.5moa one about 5mm low and the other about 5mm high, the breeze pushed the impacts to the left a bit and a bit more at 300yds, I ran out of field so couldnt get to 400yds, without moving my set up which meant the breeze would be full value rather that less than 1/4 value aand having increase to about 18mph, according to the BBC weather app, for my last 2 shots I clicked up 10moa and then back down 10moa and took the scope off and on, both impacts were the same elevation within 10mm but almost off the side of the paper as the breeze had swung a bit and increased in strength, it does at this stages appear that the turrets are somewhat repeatable which was the biggest surprise for an inexpensive scope and the same for the QR mounts, if I can find time in the week and the wind is in the right direction and not too sunny I will have another try at 400 and 500 yards, it was quite warm today and mirage was a bit of a ball ache, part of that might be due to my target board beind stood on a massive muck heap as a back stop
I think I might have an RSI in my finger after typing all that
