VW Amorok prices

Always the same really it seems wherever you go. Big, heavy vehicles that have (at least some parts) under-engineered, high in electric and electronic gadgetry (more to go wrong) and used to near their full potential often. Is it any wonder pickups go wrong? Which is where Land Rover's reliability issues historically fall down, along with all these pickups to a greater or lesser degree.

Whichever way you look at it, they aren't going to be as reliable as Aunty Mary's little used VW Polo. It's just the way it is and if you need one, you have to pay the premium, not just to buy it but to keep it working properly. I guess Toyotas have historically been the best and I guess it says something that they operate in war zones, where dealerships will be non existent and they have big lumps of ordnance firepower bolted onto the load base.

I purchased a high output V6 Amarok just over 3 years ago and have now done over 100K miles, a lot of which is high speed driving between Essex and Scotland for stalking etc, over that time it has performed faultlessly, in fact I've only had one problem and that was one month before the 3 year warranty was up and it had done 95K miles when the power steering pump failed. VW didn't quibble they took it in and replaced the pump at no cost.
I have a set of BF At (KO2) tyres on it and it has got me everywhere that I have needed to get to. (mind you they are not great on wet tarmac!)
For me it has a been a great vehicle, hopefully the recent collaboration with Ford on the new one will not spoil what was a really practicable and reliable truck.

Three local V6 Amaroks fuel systems failed, spitting metal through fuel system. One cost £8k at VW to repair. All were "working" vehicles, as in owned by companies. I cannot attest to the servicing regimes or fuel used, although I'd swear by the mechanic involved with at least two of them. Not high mileage vehicles.
