I didn't mean my post to infer otherwise, It was a general comment and only spoken of as many genuine accounts are hacked on ebay and similar sales sites.

Assuming it all works fine, someone did indeed get a remarkable good deal. I'd have had a punt too, if I didn't already have at least twice as many 'scopes as rifles. The other thing is that things are only cheap on eBay if only one person wants them. If two shooting folk, who often have a few quid spare for their toys, had been on this it might easily have hit a hundred or more, I think.

In its favour: first-rate maker, light, low-mounting, wide field of view and all the benefits of an illuminated reticle (i.e. you can see it in the dark) without the drawback that when you need it the battery is flat.

Against - unfashionable

I have one in 6x42 with the #1 reticle and it’s my favourite scope. I’d love a 4x32 to match it. As said above, unfashionable but fantastic all the same.

Years ago I bought a top of the range bait boat on ebay at a fraction of the price as the seller spelt the name incorrectly and I was the only bidder to find it.:)

sometimes as steal does come along.

Ha! That reminds of a time, many years ago, (pre Internet and all that nonsense) when my dad bought a nice little sailing boat for £15 from the classified ads in the local paper - he found it in furniture section!

Funny you should mention a girl in a gun shop in Ivybridge.
A few years ago now maybe ten or more I went into a gun shop in Ivybridge and was asking about some H380 for reloading and do you know what, we got talking and the girl knew as much about reloading as I did. I spent the best part of an hour talking to her and boy did she know her onions.
I was so surprised and have never known a girl know so much about hands on reloading.
Could it have been Alicia do you reckon ?

10 years ago it was just Pete and Alicia at Ivybridge and I remember she was trained in gunsmithing somewhere , however she would be early 50's now.

Yep that would have been her then, I was very impressed with her genuine knowledge.

I bought my first deer rifle/scope many years from Pete and subsequently my first shotgun. It was a .243 Parker Hale 1200/meopta 6x42 combination, lovely gun and a bargain too!
Always a pleasure dealing with the Gunroom, professional, courteous and knowlegable.

Looks genuine enough to me. Certainly markings are correct for pre German Unification Zeiss 'scoped. It'll be excellent glass.

My Diatal C were similar. Why cheap then? It's a ZA...that unlike the C...is a 26mm tube. That's why.

Ring options from the US mount and ring manufacturers are frustratingly limited in 26mm. Which is fatal to these ZA 'scopes here in the UK.
