Waterproof shooting trousers

Hi all
I’ve had two pairs of waterproof trousers made by aigle for the past 10 years, both pairs have final given up and won’t do another season. What do I replace them with, trousers are to be used for all fields sport uses from picking up, foxing, stalking, beating. So many different brands to choose from. Hoping to spend no more than £100 per pair,
What would you recommend and why?

Hoggs Kincraig, warm and waterproof and reasonably durable, weak stitching inside the pockets needs a lot to be desired is the only criticism

For under £100...Seeland (usually on sale with John Norris of Penrith) or Keela as above

If I think about it I rarely use waterproof trousers any more.

If I go out in heavy rain in winter and know it is for more than a day, then yes.
And then I use a pair of hard shells or waders, proper rain gear.

I never found waterproof general use trousers to be breathable enough to not be very uncomfortable when working outside.
But then again, I sweat my knees alot apparently.

If you can get over the somewhat tactical look, Uf-pro makes some of, if not, the best I have ever worn.

Not the cheapest option in the market, however you get what you pay for:

+1 for Keela over trousers or salopettes. Only problem would be that you get a tad warm in them and they re a wee bit heavier than some trousers. The fact that (as @lochty has alluded to) the Police and Mountain Rescue teams both use Keela gear is a big plus.

Depends on a few things. Do you want breathable and waterproof? Do you want tough, to perhaps survive the odd thorny encounter? You can pay a lot of money to have all three, so choose your priorities and go from there.

As for longevity, is it just me that thinks in general the quality of many such clothes has gone south in recent years?

I’ve had Seeland trousers and although they have different ones, they have proved robust and (fairly) waterproof. To an extent, they breathe too. But not anywhere near trousers with a Gore-Tex membrane. Seeland are the same company as Harkila, who have higher end stuff at a higher end price.

To be honest, folk on here will advocate trousers that they’ve had and worked well. But nobody will have tried out every type. The best advice is to go old fashioned. Instead of buying online, go somewhere that has a good choice and, as they say, feel the quality.

Arktis C310 - You can pay 3 times more for inferior trousers - really hard to beat
