Waterproof trousers for wildfowling

Am looking for a pair of good quality waterproof trousers or over trousers.

Must be 100% waterproof, plan to use them in conjunction with wellies for most of my wildfowling this season and will be kneeling/lying on sand/mud. I have no need to wade to any depth and am finding neoprene chest waders hard work nowadays.

Any recommendations please? TIA

Have a look at the Keela website for sale offers. They make good kit, used by a lot of the mountain rescue teams.

Ex army Gore tex over trousers pulled on over a pair of good warm moleskins sorted , or if I am worried about the look I've got a couple of pairs of Deerhunter Ram

Firstly, decide if you need them to be breathable. Then decide how tough they need to be (if you go over rocks or through bushes etc). Also consider whether you want them to go over or inside your wellies. Velcro type closing at the bottom are often a good idea. Then consider if you want camo or not. After all that, you can decide whether a cheap pair of walking over-trousers or something more sturdy is the way to go. Frankly, there’s an awful lot of choice.

I use thigh waders (Dunlop) and a cheap long smock so kneel or sit on the smock tail or the inside flap of my bag

Things I use:
Dirtboot waders
Decathalon goretex and lined trousers £9.99

Things I avoid.
Army issue goretex. It’s completely sh*t if you actually want to stay dry in anything other than mist.

Keela make excellent if pricey kit. I rely on keela for work.

I used to be a member of a club on the Humber estruary but gave it up when I discovered stalking. Although the masochistic and early morning/ late finishes are similar.

Anyway, I used to wear cheap thigh waders and, over my trews, I wore the cheap old army waterproofs. Not goretex but the ones that are rubberised and made you sweat like a marine in a spelling test.

I cut the legs off at the knee- they were really to keep my backside dry and the worst of the clag of my trews if I had to kneel or sit in the mud. And a Swazi Or ridgeline smock on the top half ( I started with ridgeline then bought a Swazi for the obvious reasons)

Chest waders once it gets cold .You can sit/kneel down in the mud without getting a wet backside .Easy to clean off when you leave the mars.

use hip waders and get some farm supplies fully waterproof cheap trousers ( cut the legs off above the knee). This allows you to take a pee and walk easier and cooler than chesties. Decent trousers on a proper salt marsh ? forget it ! mind you regular wellies ? Thats a field not a marsh and you will then require some kind of seat .
The type of waterproof overtrousers i suggest are very cheap but you might struggle without some kind of belt or braces to hold them up while walking

Gore tex army trousers -the heavy type- are strong, fairly cheap and zip on and off over your wellies fairly easily when you arrive at the end of your walk in or want to set out for home. There is a wider range of sizes than for most lines of clothing and this can make the garment feel better to wear once you work out what size you are.

another recommendation for the flecktarn german issue....one great advantage over the british army ones is they have a fly so you do not have to take off to have a wee
